Tire Service Limit: When replacing three or more tires Downtime requires approval from the Terminal or Equipment Provider.
Mechanical Limit: Mechanical repairs over $500 requires approval.
**Please note: It is the up to the Driver or Authorizer of any service call to take off tires or parts at the time of service. If off tires or parts are left with the repair technician, Downtime cannot guarantee successful return of parts after the conclusion of repairs. If unit is dropped, authorizer MUST specify at time of road service call how they want off parts handled.
When requesting tire or mechanical service on dropped units, if the container is empty, you may request the vendor to leave the old tire, or parts, inside the container. If the container is loaded, this will NOT be possible. Most facilities refuse our vendors to leave tires and parts under or around the unit.
Please encourage drivers to double check tire sizes before calling in. When the incorrect tire size is reported in most cases, the vendor must return to his shop to get the correct size. This results in added wait time for the driver and the vendor will charge extra expenses to return and get the correct size tire which will be extra expense to your company.
Please note that if a representative or driver from your company request service from Downtime, and if for some reason the unit is no longer at the location we were given, if there is no issue found once the vendor arrives, or if the request is cancelled after the technician is en route, there WILL be “dry run service charge” billed to the Motor carrier, as we are being charged by the vendor for going out.
